Весеннее потепление привело к началу свадебной миграции земноводных. В зависимости от погодных условий земноводные перемещаются к местам размножения в течение нескольких недель. В некоторых местах пути миграции пересекают шоссе с оживленным движением, из-за чего большая часть лягушек может погибнуть всего за пару часов. Эстонский фонд природы (Eestimaa Looduse Fond) призывает местных жителей помочь земноводным перейти дорогу в их родной местности. Водителей просят быть внимательными как по отношению к самим амфибиям, так и волонтерам, которые помогают земноводным в сумерках поздними вечерами.
По словам руководителя кампании «Лягушки на шоссе» («Konnad teel») Биргит Пурга, для ведущей оседлый образ жизни популяции лягушек такая массовая гибель весной по пути на свадьбу может означать вымирание. «Поэтому участки шоссе с огромными жертвами очень опасны для более уязвимых лягушачьих сообществ. Тем более, что все наши земноводные находятся под охраной природы», — пояснила Пурга.
Миграция земноводных замечена уже по всей Эстонии. Начало весенней миграции земноводных к местам размножения подстегнули температура выше нуля и прошедший в некоторых местах дождик. «На данный момент в путь отправились, в основном, тритоны, то есть хвостатые лягушки, и травяные лягушки. К сожалению, большое количество мигрирующих в выходные земноводных уже погибло под колесами автомобилей», — сказала Пурга. — «Когда погода становится прохладнее, миграция лягушек также замедляется, но при потеплении она снова набирает обороты, поэтому стоит быть на чеку и проявлять по отношению к земноводным благосклонность в течение всего апреля», — добавила она.
В этом году местные волонтеры организуют толоки по спасению лягушек как минимум в десяти местах с наиболее массовой миграцией. Эстонский фонд природы организовал для волонтеров информационные мероприятия, чтобы все желающие могли получили навыки и знания о том, зачем и как спасать амфибий, соблюдая технику безопасности. Инфочасы также помогают людям лучше разбираться в видах земноводных.
Ближайшие инфочасы на русском языке состоятся 6 апреля в Силламяэской библиотеке с 11.30 до 13.30 и в Нарве в Objekt с 15.00 до 17.00. Также инфочасы проводятся и онлайн. Регистрация на мероприятия по эл.почте tatjana.lavrova@gmail.com.
Все желающие внести свой вклад в охрану природы, приняв участие в спасении земноводных, могут присоединиться к списку спасателей на сайте konnad.elfond.ee или на странице Facebook «Konnad teel», где на постоянной основе объявляются возможности оказания помощи. Многие волонтеры помогают лягушкам каждую весну уже на протяжении многих лет. Добровольцы подсчитывают и идентифицируют лягушек по видам, что является необходимой информацией как для ученых так и, конечно же, при планировании дорожных работ и самих дорог.
Помогая лягушке перейти дорогу, необходимо соблюдать технику безопасности и правила дорожного движения. Для безопасности как амфибий, так и их спасателей рекомендуется использовать временный барьер (сетку), который препятствует попаданию лягушек на проезжую часть и помогает накапливать жаб и лягушек в одном месте перед тем, как перенести их на другую сторону проезжей части в ведрах, убедившись в отсутствии машин. Прежде чем отправиться лягушкам на помощь, обязательно следует ознакомиться с правилами спасения земноводных на сайте konnad.elfond.ee (информация переведена и на русский язык).
Акция «Лягушки на шоссе» проводится с 2012 года. Цель инициативы — привлечь внимание к земноводным, массово погибающим на дорогах во время весенней миграции, повысить осведомленность людей об амфибиях, играющих важную роль в природе, а также получить представление о местах их миграции по всей Эстонии. За прошедшие годы с помощью волонтеров удалось спасти от гибели под колёсами автомобилей 206193 амфибии.
